The Artist

Mona Luisa Diogo was born in Luanda, Angola, in 1977. Her father was a Portuguese artist and her mother an Angolan physician. She grew up in Angola and Portugal and came to the United States at the age of 15. She has studied art in Italy and Spain as well as in the United States, and she has exhibited her work in art galleries, museums and cafés in Boston, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island; and Staten Island, New York. A Sociology graduate of Hunter College in New York City, she is currently working towards a graduate degree in Fine Arts. When Mona is asked where she got her training, she replies "I have always drawn!"
